DISABILITY DAY 2/16/2012
Come join BIAG, our Support Groups, their friends and family
as we join together to
raise awareness about brain injury during Disability Day on
February 16, 2012. If you have the following from past handouts:
wear your BIAG blue bandana around your head symbolizing brain
injury (or as a scarf or armband), wear your BIAG cap. Make a
poster to carry about brain injury. Rain or shine - watch the
weather and dress appropriately.

fountain
10:30 AM - March together to the Capitol rally location, front
and center of the podium
11:00 Am - "Make It Real" rally begins with speakers
12:30 PM - Lunch at the depot
MARCH - BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH
Brain Injury: Anytime, Anyone, Anywhere. It's not just an
injury - it's
people, it's you, it's a coworker, a friend, a loved one.
It impacts people whose lives have been changed forever by a
traumatic or a neurologic event. The severity can range from
mild to severe. You can help us support the brain injury
community by making a donation, become a member of BIAG.
Visit our statewide network of support groups, get involved.
Ask if they are hosting events during this month you can
participate in.
March 24th - SWIMMING FOR BRAIN INJURY
Sponsor a swimmer for 50 cents a lap or join us and swim some
laps! March is BI Awareness and the Seminole Spirit Speech
Language Support Group lead by Mr. Bill Peet and Mr. Mark
Halvorsen, 2 survivors of a brain injury, will be giving back to
brain injury by "swimming for it". We ask for your sponsorship
support to donate 50 cents a lap which is 2 lengths of a 25 yard
pool at the Cecil B. Wellness Center.
Your donation will go to support BIAG and the Seminole Spirit
Speech Language group to help pay for videotaping of this one of
a kind speech language self improvement group.

March 31, 2012 - SYMPOSIUM ON THE BRAIN
You are invited to attend the Pilot Club of Carrollton,
Georgia's upcoming Symposium on the Brain. This unique event
will provide an opportunity for professionals and those affected
by brain related disorders learn from experts in the areas of
traumatic and acquired brain injury; autism spectrum disorders
and Alzheimer's disease. Attendees will
participate in questions and answer sessions, interact with
vendors and others in the brain related fields. Guest speakers
are Dr. Jeremy Hertza, Psy.D., Director of Behavioral Medicine
and Chair of Brain Injury Services at Walton Rehab in Augusta
who will speak on brain injuries; Dr. Karen Harris Brown,
assistant profession at the University of West Georgia who will
provide overview of the brain and its functions. Special
motivational speaker will be Jennifer Field, a survivor of TBI
who set her sights on the Olympics when she was injured in a
MVA. She will speak on the hope and determination that allowed
her to transcend her obstacles.
Cost is $20 and scholarships are offered for those who need
help. If you are interested in being a vendor contact us as
space is limited.
